As some of you have no doubt seen over in FOFC, there's a new "feature" in 5.1a that allows you to renegotiate all contracts to minsals, as long as you don't change what they ask for in the bonus. This has huge implications for the way the caps and financials work, so I think we need to discuss how the CFL should approach this issue.

First: has anybody used this feature in renegotiating contracts? I never noticed it myself, and thus have been renegotiating as usual.

Second: Is anybody planning to do any renegotiations before the end of the season?

Third: If the answer to the above questions are both "no," then I see no problem with advancing according to our current schedule.

However, if anybody still intends to renegotiate with players we might want to wait a bit to see if Jim addreses this issue. OR we'd have to consider making up a house rule prohibiting substantial changes in requested salaries, or somesuch.

Thoughts?

I'm can't seem to get almost anyone to resign, even though I'm offering what they ask for. Am I doing something wrong here?

Boy, I dunno. I haven't had that problem in 5.1a. Anybody else?

We are not using 5.1a, we are still on 5.0d i believe.

We were supposed to upgrade at the end of this season, it might be a good idea to wait until this whole issue is cleared up.

Oh good, I must've missed that we stayed on 5.0d. That'll save us some headaches.

Yup, fff is right. We're still running 5.0d.

That would probably be your problem, vex. If you've upgraded to 5.1a then Jim has said that renegotiations will be nearly impossible...though I did manage to resign one player after I upgraded.

They are nearly impossible. I've resigned 2 players in what, 5 weeks. I didn't have a choice, I bought FOF after 5.1 was released.

E-mail or PM mckerney. He apparently still have 5.0d on file. If you can get it from him and install it in time you should probably have a shot at re-signing some of your guys...

Jim comes thru again...A new patch has just been released, 5.1b fixing the 'salary bug' and a few other minor things.

Looks as if we will be able to upgrade at the end of this season...
