Congratulations to Jander for a great year and a good game.
We thought this game was going to be sloppy and it sure played out that way. When the MVP of the game is a defensive tackle with 2 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 hurries it tells you something about how the offenses did.
We are shocked to have won the bowl this quick. We were aiming for about 2 years from now on our current build. The transition to FOF 8 did wonders for my coaching staff and created a real advantage by the natural strengths of our team.
We had a pretty good idea what Death Valley wanted to do on offense, seeing as we do the same thing. So we tried to shut down the TE's (knowing we probably couldn't stop Teddy Ballgame). We had a lot of success due in part to an old veteran back-up MLB named Dana De Los Santos who started at SLB. What does he do well eleven years into his career??.....Cover TE's.....
And wily vet Dexter Herek stepped up running 10 times for over 60 yards and a TD....
A quick shout out to Smitty for some advice he gave us a little over a year ago. In a nutshell, have a team personality....It took a while to get it back, but with the addition of Ed Dunlap to our team, we think we finally have it again.
