At LA, trying to avenge a weird loss where we gave up 13 points in regulation (with 10 coming off TOs) before fumbling a PR in OT on the bigger stage.

A midfield INT ended our first drive, and LAS went up 7 on a long catch and run by their RB. We fumbled it away on our next drive and LAS went up 14 shortly thereafter. 4 punts in a row before we got something going and closed the gap to 7 points. We got good field position again after moving them backwards and grabbed 4 more points. LAS finally moved the ball a little with another YAC play and pinned us deep to close out the half.

Too much deja vu going on for us to be comfortable as the TOs were once again killing us despite winning the per play battle in a big way.

We blocked their opening punt and took a 3 point lead after a TD to open the 3rd quarter. 3 consecutive punts had us into the 4th quarter and we had a 1st and goal from the 2 before going up 10. Back to back punts had us inside of 10 minutes and LAS finally opened up the passing game but ended up kicking on 4th and goal from the 1 to remain down 7.

Our 3 and out combined with a crappy punt set them up at our 38 with 6 minutes left. Once inside the 10 DT Kelly sacked them back but they scrapped forward and converted the 4th and goal from the 9 to tie things up.

2 plays later we had crossed midfield ourselves inside of 3 minutes but our FG attempt was blocked. And whaddaya know, after forcing them backwards yet again we fumbled the PR and set them up at our 20 with 18 seconds left.

Frustrating to lose that tightly with a -3 OT margin (again!). We also had some gampelanning errors it seems like with familiars towards the end of the game so there is something to learn from all of this.

LAS QB Blanchard had a heckuva game with nearly 10 ypa, especially at the end there, but hard to evaluate really due to half the yards being YAC. Our best WR Ferguson only had 1 target so something screwy was going on there for us as well.

Terhorst and Kelly are FAs for us so we will have to decide who to tag. Best of luck the rest of the way LAS.

SPOILERS!!!!

oh, Flex...(Iowa City).....I feel for you man.

If not for the blocked punt you had this game wrapped up. I think you had the better team from the opening whistle well into the 4th quarter, but a few costly penalties and that big block were your undoing. I'd say I almost feel guilty getting the win, but I've had that happen to me in the past too. It wasn't quite getting "Shreveported" because we did run the ball well. However, when the player of the game is your QB that's got to hurt.
