Hosting a slid Tucson squad in nippy clear weather.

A great start for us with a 14 play TD drive followup by forcing a 3-and-out but a fumbled PR game TUC another chance and they evened things up. Another steady ground it out drive by us had us back up 7 early in the 2nd, while TUC moved it well but had to settle for a FG. TUC finally got a defensive stop and converted a 3rd and long with a deep PA pass (why PA works on 3rd and long is beyond me but whatever) but got picked after moving into our end with just over a minute left. We don't do the 2 minute drill well and gave it up but another pick from Judy gave us the chance to add 3 more before the half to be up 7.

TUC got into our RZ but consecutive sacks led to them converting a 50 yard FG while a penalty derailed our drive but we did pi n em at their 4 and retook possession at their 45 with 20 minutes left. A few 3rd down conversions led to another TD for us and an 11 point lead. After getting a nice stop we roughed up the kicker to gift TUC another possession but again TUC could only get 3. We opened up the O a bit working the intermediate game before getting back to the ground and Terhorst scrambled in to put us up 15 with 6 minutes left locking this one up as Judy threw a 3rd pick during the hurryup.

We racked up over 200 yards on 39 rushes despite having on runs go for more than 19 yards including 8/8 on 3rd down conversions prior to running out the clock. The passing game was quietly efficient getting only 5 ypa but completing 65% of our passes (which is the best we can hope for) converting 3/6 on 3rd but avoiding INTs and sacks. Also another perfect RZ performance at 4-0.

TUC couldn't run and didn't particularly try as they racked up over 55 dropbacks. Aside form teh 3 picks we also held them to under 3 YAC per catch despite some big gains.

A dominating ground game, excellent RZ performance and forcing TOs is our formula and seems to be working even without some of passing targets available.

After a division lightweight next week we hace Cleveland and Texas so then we will see if we are a contender hopefully.

GG New Orleans....

A nice win for us before the bye week. We need to rest up and get some injured players back.
