In another big game, the Las Vegas Rounders prove they can't beat the teams they should and continue to beat those they shouldn't.

Despite a couple of key turnovers (one returned 96 yards for a score and one in the opponents endzone on the first play of the drive) and consistent pressure by Honolulu (5 sacks, 3 hurries, and 2 INT's), Lenny "Jackpot" Olsen was able to get the Rounders a coveted win over division-leading Honolulu.

Jakpot had this to say immediately after the game, "We had a slow start due to the constant pressure by Honolulu. They just didn't give me any time to go through my progresssions. I told the guys up front that if they could give me another second or so, I could make things happen. OC Cowart made some adjustments to our blocking scheme at halftime and Coach Strong kept pumping the coins in...well we all know what happens next - Jackpot baby, Jackpot!"

Yes, it was definitely a jackpot. The Rounders' bend-but-don't-break defense allowed the Blue Pacific to move up and down the field but managed to keep them out of the endzone. Honolulu's lone TD was on a 96 yard interception return. That pass along with another pick in Honolulu's endzone kept this game from being a blowout. That's right folks, I'm explaining that Honolulu escaped a blowout at the hands of Vegas.

The only significant loss for the Rounders' were two starting linebackers to injuries. WLB Spalding and MLB Comeau both suffered broken appendages with a finger and toe respectively. The worst part is they were both suffered on punt coverages.

I asked Coach Strong why his starting LB's are covering punts and he had this to say, "Spalding is fast. Plain and simple. He's one of our best special teamers and it's a risk we take every game. Comeau on the other hand, shouldn't have been out there. He's too old for that shit anyway. The problem with a defensive leader like Comeau is that he takes matters into his own hands and tries to rally the team with his actions on the field. Unfortunately for him, he'll be dealing with a bum wheel that will nag him for the rest of the season. When GM TurfToe finds out, there will probably be a fine in there somewhere too. TurfToe isn't too fond of guys putting themselves in the game..."

So Vegas makes it to .500 at the expense of Honolulu - another year of mediocrity for one and a blemish on another Championship year for the other.

Considering I benched Sonkin and Tu, I'm not too worried about the loss

Smart move. Vegas has a pension for going after ACL's.

I think they tend to concentrate on punters' ACLs, though. :x

Actually, we tend to concentrate on the ACL's of punters in our division. :D
