This was a rematch of the 2007 Western Conference Championship that Denver won 23-7. But in week 3 the Wolfpack got their revenge, scoring 27 unanswered 2nd half points to win 47-17. Wolfpack quarterback Lane Manuel passed for 500 yards, trying the CFL record. Manuel also tied the league record for TD passes in a game with 5.

Best Defensive Performance
DE Arthur Gomez, Detroit Vampires

The Vampires traveled to Albany in week 11 for a matchup between the top two teams in the Great Lakes Division. The Vampires took a 9-7 lead midway through the 4th quarter. Each team then punted twice, and Albany got the ball back with 1:26 on the clock. Albany QB Rocky McFarland was sacked by DE Arthur Gomez on the first two plays of that drive, pushing them all the way back to their own 1-yard line and sealing a Detroit win. Gomez had 7 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 2 QB hurries.

Best WR Pair
Abe Muncy/Marvin Athey, Boise Stampede

During the offseason Boise traded a 1st round pick in 2010 to Santa Cruz in exchange for WR Marvin Athey. That was a steal for Boise, as Athey is 2nd in the league in TD receptions with 9. The only player who has more? That's right, teammate Abe Muncy who has 11. Athey and Muncy have combined for 151 catches, 2,066 yards, and 20 TDs. These two stars have done as much as anyone to turn around the Stampede franchise that finished 3-13 in 2007 and are sitting at 13-2 in 2008.

Most Explosive Player
WR Ernie Cooley, Fargo Boxcars

Scouts saw that Ernie Cooley had a rare combination of speed (4.27) and size (6'1", 206 lbs) when he was catching passes for Temple last year. He is now officially the CFL's fastest man, even faster than former Temple teammate Michael Browning, who now plays WR for the Durham Bulldogs. When the Boxcars selected Cooley at 10th overall in the 2008 draft, they hoping he could turn any pass into a touchdown. They got what they hoped for as Cooley has scored 6 TDs in his rookie year.

Best Offensive Line
Tulsa Talons

Stability. They have become the most solid group in the league, and they are the reason why Tulsa is having its best season in team history. QB Donnie Lowe has only been sacked 8 times this season, and RB Butch Fulton has set a career best in rushing yards with 1,801. This whole group deserves a pro-bowl selection.

Best Pass Rusher
Kasey Cha, Charleston Monitors

When you play a 3-4 defense, generally the pass rush comes from blitzing linebackers while the defensive linemen play the run. Apparently no one told Kasey Cha about this. Cha has been the most consistent pass rusher in the league from his left defensive end position. There are players who have more sacks, but Cha has more quarterback hurries (39) than anyone. Cha is also durable and has great stamina, playing all but 14 of the Monitors' defensive snaps in 2008.

Hardest Hitter
Garth Dittman, Durham Bulldogs

Garth Dittman has lost a step, right? Wrong. Dittman has made some of the biggest hits of his career this season, which is his 11th. He plays with intensity on every down, and it doesn't matter if you run at him or away from him, Dittman finds a way to get to the ball and make ball carriers pay for every yard they get. He is the playmaker on the Durham defense that is 2nd in the CFL in fewest points allowed. This season Dittman forced 4 fumbles, made 120 tackles, and recorded 5 sacks.

Best Shutdown Corner
Mark Tatum, New York Knights

Last year Tatum emerged as one of the top cornerbacks in the league. This year he established himself as the very best, frequently taking away an entire side of the field. Usually locked up in bump and run coverage, Tatum also plays the run well and hits like a linebacker. He has 7 interceptions this season. Tatum is becoming a leader in the locker room, and it is no coincidence that New York has made the playoffs in each of Tatum's 4 seasons with the team.

Best Special Teams Player
Douglas Cowley, New York Knights

Douglas Cowley is one of the better wide receivers in the game, but it is his impact in the return game that makes him elite. Cowley returned two kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns this year, and leads the league in yards per kickoff return with 33.5. Nothing can change the course of a game more than a big special teams play. His returns in the week 3 contest against Cleveland and the week 6 contest against Durham were the difference that allowed the Knights to win these close games.

Fixed it - there is a setting in my board profile about HTML. For some reason, I had it disabled.
