BOSTON, MA (UPI) - Standing at an even 160-160 in the 18-year history of the Continental Football League, the Boston Franchise announced another name change today at a press conference at BU's Nickerson Field. The team formerly known as the Massacre, Red Devils, and That Other Team That Plays While We're Waiting For The Red Sox Season To Start will now be known as the Boston Bees.

According to the team's newest management, the name was chosen "by the fans" after an 11-day poll. While the exact totals of the vote were not announced, sources with the team who wished to be unidentified confirmed that seven of the team's 16 fans selected the name.

In addition to the name-change, which may not take place until after the next Tucson Toro's Championship celebration in 2023, the team unveiled a new uniform to mixed reviews. Defensive end Ian Reed was coerced into modeling the new look to the smattering of applause from various spectators. The most enthusiastic in the crowd may have been long-time U.S. Representative Barney Frank, who was seen in the back row of the auditorium hastily laying his jacket over his lap as Reed turned to display the new look's back side.

Also in attendance was another long-time Boston politician, Mayor Tom Menino, who took advantage of the photo opportunity to give a few words of encouragement to the team. "Wesh zebba dabber Bis tobuh lubba zubba," said Menino, "Zabba rubba soo nobbah doo!" Menino unfortunately had to make an early exit after inadvertently soiling his trousers during the team owner's speech on the team's indebtedness and gratitude to the city for the upgrades to Nickerson Field.

Tickets are still available for the game, including most of the luxury boxes, club seats, sideline seats, and all of the mezzanine, end zone and upper deck seats. Excellent read!

That's some serious competition for TurfToe's infamous press releases... :D

I don't do it that often. I just kind of needed to put a little of the Cotton Stamp on this team for my own immersion factor.

After spending 100,000,000 or so in FA, and aside from a few left over studs like Reed, Fung, and Tubbs, and a QB (Fisk) that I think is underrated enough to give another shot to, this pretty much is a brand new team.

With a LONG way to go...
