Wow, that was an exciting game!

I think the missed FG's made it more exciting than it needed to be but that was about as good a game as I have watched with my team involved in quite some time.

I think I may have had fun...

[b7d5c479]Fonzie's Super-Fun Quick-Hit Recap-a-Thon[/b7d5c479]

Boise (3-2) fell behind winless, hapless Arizona (0-6) 13-0 at halftime. But they got two huge third quarter plays (38 yd TD pass from Renaldo Kiner and an Ian Henson 65 yd punt return for a TD) to vault them back into this one. 24-20, Boise.

And speaking of second half comebacks, Tennessee (4-2) further frustrated an already aggravated Durham (1-5) fanbase with their 20-17 OT win. Trailing 17-3 heading into the 4th, Tennessee rallied for two field goals early in the quarter and a TD/conversion with 1:05 left. A 25 yd Harvey Hudson FG sealed the deal in OT.

I believe we may need to send TurfToe to some remedial workshops on "rebuilding your football team," as he's not quite doing it right. He has his "rebuilding" Rounders (4-2) in first place in the Ring of Fire, courtesy of a 26-13 spanking (yes, there was actual spanking involved - this is TT, you know) of Oregon (4-2). MoMo was outstanding again with 272 passing yds and 2 TDs, while Rico Lynn had a game only neurosurgery could help him to forget (four picks?!).

Before their tilt with El Paso (2-4), the Santa Cruz (5-0) coaching staff was overheard proclaiming that they were so confident of victory this week that they hadn't bothered installing a gameplan. A 35-6 victory suggests they weren't just braggin'. This novel path to success is rumored to have prompted ownership to encourage the coaching staff to continue "winging it."

In a game that only mothers of kickers could love, Albany (2-3) topped Chicago (1-5) 26-15. A total of nine field goals were kicked in this one, with the only other scores being a Rondell Whiting TD pass and a Victor Jackson fumble return for a TD.

San Antonio (5-1) jumped out ahead of Baltimore (5-1) 13-0 in the 2nd quarter, but that was the last we'd hear of the Stingers' offense. The Barbarians scored 34 unanswered points to win this one going away. Brian Bauer threw 3 TD passes.

Word on the street was that Arrowhead (4-2) management was damn steamed after last week's 24-3 loss, and that aggravation was taken out on poor St. Louis (1-5) this week to the tune of a 31-3 drubbing. Omaha did it with a spectacular running game, leaning heavily on Graham Burks (29-161-1).

Speaking of pent-up frustrations, Tucson's (3-3) coaching staff was by all accounts impossible to be around this week. They, and their players, vented all over poor Anchorage (0-5) in a 45-23 beatdown that wasn't even as close as the score suggests. For the second time this season the Toros racked up over 550 yards, and this time they made it count.

Network camera crews caught Huntington Beach's (6-0) Bert Foster nodding off toward the beginning of the 4th quarter, with his Wolfpack leading Tulsa 30-3. He nearly missed one awesome comeback bid from the Talons, who plugged in backup QB Ian Bruce and rallied for 21 points over the last 10 minutes to fall just short.

Alliteration was the name of the game today, as the Boston Bees (5-1) beat the Brooklyn Brawlers (3-2-1) by banking on Bobby Brady. (Sorry - it's late and that's the best I can do). CJ Hicks, as usual, played a key role in this one. Less usual was how he did it, by scooping up a Duane Oburn fumble and taking it 71 yards for a TD. 20-17 Boston.

I know the "pent up frustration" card has been played to the point of being played out, but that's my only explanation for the 41-20 beating Fargo (3-3) delivered to Texas (3-3) today. And it really wasn't even that close - Texas had to rally for two 4th quarter TDs to make the score "respectable."

Marcus Hanks was spectacular again today, passing for 337 yds and a TD in leading Honolulu (3-3) over Seattle (3-3) 34-18. Hunter Walker did what he could for the Spartans, but a couple of late picks did them in.

Hartford (3-2) built up a 21-7 halftime lead and coasted through the kind of second half that TV network executives HATE with a passion, finally beating Cleveland (3-2) 21-14. No points were scored in the 4th quarter.

How do win big when you gain just 240 yards, 8 first downs, and complete 6 of 18 passes? I don't know for sure, but I'd recommend doing whatever Atlantic City did (3-2) to Detroit (1-4-1) today. Those were their offensive numbers, and they won 33-6. Detroit only gained 164 total yards, committed 3 turnovers, and had a punt blocked in the end zone for a TD. Poor Shane Hall has to be wondering what the hell happened to his career (17/49 passing for 102 yds, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, sacked 3 times).

GG Shooter. SAO dominated the 1st half outside of a 55 yard TD pass, but the BAL D got it done in the 2nd half, allowing just 2 1st downs and coming up with 3 takeaways after the break. We had great luck, of course, but it's a big win for us.

Not the prettiest game ever, but... I'll take it.

Argh, I can't blame you in this case, Hoos, but did you have to give my [i784096e]kicker[/i784096e] a concussion? That's just irritating to deal with! GG though, man.

GG Fargo.

Just an ugly day for our team. Fargo recovered a blocked punt in our endzone, had 3 INTs (one when we were on the Fargo 21), and their average starting spot was their 41 yard line (our punter averaged 29.6 yards per punt... YOWIE!). With things like that going on, we couldn't expect to win the game. Take away those mistakes, and we outgained Fargo 341-323, were 10/18 on 3rd downs, and a perfect 3 for 3 in the Red Zone.

We made some changes to our offensive strategy and it resulted in 3 INTS, so that's going to change, LOL. The special teams was horrendous. Our running game was, at best, poor. And our defense, although put in a lot of bad situations, did not come up with any big plays.

We're pretty young, so we'll hopefully get better over time.

Ugh. That doesn't help my team's morale. I did forget to upload my team's file. I was going to bench my hurt QB, but he gutted it out and didn't get hurt worse. So, I think it actually benefited me. Otherwise, we would have lost by more than 29.

As for the actual game, Santa Cruz scored TDs in the first half and El Paso attempted field goals (going 2/4). Second half, Santa Cruz had 184 yards to El Paso's 78 (and 38 of those came on the last drive as time expired).

That was a gritty performance by Tulsa. If the game had been about 3 minutes longer, we probably would have lost it.

We dominated the first three quarters only to get housed in the 4th. QB Bruce played out of his mind!

GG Tulsa!

Our last 4 wins have been by a combined 26 points. I'm concerned that we may be a paper tiger come playoff time.

This week we get Santa Cruz who is only allowing 12 points per game. This one might be more than we can handle.

I would like to talk shit about our upcoming game, but being that it is in your barn, and my opponents win% is around 20% I am just hoping for no injuries and not getting blown out.

Props to the "Deep South" division or "AC North" ([i3de012e]which always confuses me - Really..... Shreveport, San Antonio, New Orleans, Tennessee - Does that sound remotely northern to you?[/i3de012e]) for all being above the .500 mark.

Love the late-night write-up Fonzie! Too funny.

GG Boston!

That's what a Yankee Division game is all about!

Just came up a little short. Your goal-line stand early was huge! You had fumbles and I had interceptions. Oh and like always Hicks can do no wrong!

Finally Caputo is back, but no disrespect to Schultz, who filled in nicely, he is known to throw interceptions as well.

Hicks is turning into the ultimate decoy.

He gets so many double teams that he makes the grizzled and crafty old Grenada look like Andre Johnson. I can't complain too much. I've been collecting young, athletic, but highly unpolished wide receivers for two seasons now, hoping that Grenada can mentor them up enough to take some doubles off Hicks, but it's not really working as fast as I need it to. Aberdeen, though, is finally starting to make some huge plays.

But Hicks's stats are WAY down because of all the either old or raw, undeveloped wideouts around him, but if it helps my running game or helps the guys around him stay open, and the Bees keep scoring, I won't complain.

Of course, if he does get open, look out. :)

The Yankee is gonna be a dog-fight. I feel fortunate to have a bit of an early leg up.
