Same old bullshit. Completely different gameplan that seemed to be working, but we played Tucson so of course it wasn't enough.

I'm still amazed at how bad my dice rolls always are when we play Tucson. Penalties, dropped passes (5 of them? In one game? Really?), missed FG's, you name it.

All of this and our starting QB on the trainer's table and we still were in a position to force OT.

Oh, did I mention a drive and a score right before half time? Oh yeah, didn't need to, I was playing Tucson.

I'm going to play Black Ops now...

edit: Sorry Fonz, forgot to mention gg. Not sure what the heck your game plan was with going for it on 4th down early and with an easy FG opportunity later but it worked in my favor. Sort of. I think I have my alternate gameplan dialed in but with MoMo's injury it may only be good for another season. I keep telling myself the crappy dice rolls we get every time we play you can't continue, so I'll pretend the 5-drop games won't repeat themselves.

[b0621e8a]Fonzie's Super-Fun Quick-Hit Recap-a-Thon[/b0621e8a]

Arizona continued its season of unbridled haplessness by rallying for a last-minute TD against Oregon that would have sent them into OT, if not for a missed extra point by William Francis. Oops. Oregon 24, Arizona 23.

Derrick Banner and his friends in Durham got a rare victory, courtesy of Carl Bradford's three interceptions. Nevertheless, Shreveport had a chance to tie it up late via a Bradford to Olivares TD pass, but they failed on the two point conversion and that wound up being the difference in the game. Durham 25, Shreveport 23.

Denver is coming on strong, winning in convincing fashion 38-24 over El Paso. Irving Norried (19/25, 281 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT) and Joey Griner (5 catches, 133 yds, 1 TD) had it going today, and the running backs combined to roll up 175 rushing yards for the Dynamite. Wendell Mathews played well for the Rockets (21/33, 247 yds, 2 TDs), but it wasn't enough.

You know you're in trouble when your defense surrenders 27 points and scores your team's only TD. That's what happened to poor Albany, whose offense could only muster an additional field goal in losing to Hartford 27-10. Howard Graham went bonkers for the Attack, rushing 26 times for 217 yds and 2 TDs.

St. Louis continues to struggle, losing to Baltimore 26-10 and in the process dropping its 8th game in 9 tries on the season. The Barbarians are headed in the opposite direction, winning for the 7th time in 8 tries. Eugene Clavell had two sacks for Baltimore.

Anchorage finally earned its first victory of the season by downing Seattle 31-24. The Anchors benefited from a Rickey Briggs 97-yd kickoff return TD in the 3rd quarter.

Tulsa rolled up 436 total yards, but struggled to put Death Valley away thanks to 10 penalties for 91 yds. They were able to keep the Copperheads winless, however, securing a 24-17 win on the strength of Luther Fredrickson's 179 rushing yard day.

Brooklyn's offense was going nowhere fast in this game, racking up just 203 total yards. Still, the Brawlers found themselves leading 21-10 heading into the final quarter. And that's when all hell broke loose for the Phantoms, who scored 17 unanswered points to win. That 4th quarter carnage featured a 76-yd pick-6 from Artie Chubick.

The Fargo-Santa Cruz tilt was a kickers' delight, with eight field goals kicked in all against just two TDs. Fargo emerged the winner, 22-16, thanks largely to Blaine Barrett's four interceptions.

Defenses are usually thrilled when they get the chance to score in a game, so you can imagine the throbbing joy along the Omaha sidelines when they snagged two fumble returns for TDs within two minutes of each other in the second quarter. Yowza. Omaha 28, Tennessee 18.

Tucson and Vegas kept trying to find ways to give their game away, but it was Vegas who finally figured out how to lose this one. Their recipe? Politely decline to do much with the five turnovers their opponent provided, lose their starting QB early in the game, and commit nine penalties for 80 yds. Tucson did their best to lose this one though, providing those five generous turnovers and attempting to go for it on 4th and goal from the 5 when the game was tied at 14 in the 3rd quarter (and failing). Lotsa ugliness in this one folks, I suggest deleting it from your DVR. Tucson 17, Vegas 14.

Honolulu returned to its winning ways, locking up a 20-6 win over Boise. Marcus Hanks was awesome (23/32, 288 yds, 2 TDs), and Boise only entered the red zone twice (netting one FG and missing another).

Sometimes games feature final scores that are a lot closer than they should be. Today's Cleveland-Boston game was one of those, with Boston winning 17-10. However, Boston outgained Cleveland 359-188, had a 22-12 first down advantage, held Cleveland to 0/12 on 3rd down conversions, and held a 37-23 time of possession advantage. If not for two Boston fumbles, this one would've been ugly.

San Antonio found the switch at halftime and flipped it to the "really, really on" position, outscoring New Orleans 20-0 in the second half to win 30-21.

I just can't figure this team out. Defensively we're pretty steady, its the offense that's so Jeckyl and Hyde. This week they were good, so I guess that makes them Jeckyl.

GG MrLegend

Our next game determines if we have a shot at the playoffs. We play Vegas who is 2 games up on us for the WC and a loss vs them would knock us out.

I think we're coming back to reality a bit. This was a much uglier win than recent weeks, and that's closer to what I expected out of this team. GG STL.

There was some throbbing on the Tenn sideline... but it wasn't joy.

I can't wait until next year to pair up Mr. Cole. and Mr. Godfrey. Right now, we have some serious QB issues.....My rookies are playing very well and the coaching staff has really done a marvelous job with the underskilled defense. We don't expect to win when we play good teams, but we show some fight. GG Smitty
