Hey all, new owner in Charleston here. I have a good deal of experience in FOF MP, so I should fit right in.
I understand this team did very well last year, however, after seeing the roster, it looks to me like an NFL graveyard. So I am open to all trades, Charleston is rebuilding, I will take what trades I can get. IF not, I will ride this out the best I can. Let me know if your about to make a push for the championship, alot of these players could put you over the top.

No immediate trade needs, but I just wanted to say welcome to the league! Best of luck over there on the Carolina coast! :D

Yes, the former owner recognized the team was aging and made one final push for the title, it paid off but essentially crippled the team for later seasons. Welcome to AC East, the best division in the CFL!

Also, please consider changing the nickname (unless you was already planning to do so), I always liked the original "Monitors" :)

I agree...any name's gotta be better than the current one!

I like the idea conveyed by "Charleston Monitors," but technically, I dunno how the folk of Charleston would like being named after a Union warship. :D How 'bout "Charleston Ironclads"? *removes history-geek hat and cloak*

FWIW, I never changed the name to Sixpacks and always kept the old 'Monitors'...

And the Ironclads sound very cool indeed... 8) you can even go back to the original logo....

I'm curious as to what your thinking is here. I don't remember crippling the team in any sort of fashion.

Does anyone have a zip with all of the games played thus far? I see there is a link on the files page, however it doesn't seem to be currently active.

We're in the 2nd FA period, so no 2005 games have been played yet. There appears to be no zip available for boxscores for 2003/2004, and I'm a new owner as well (Welcome!), so I don't have any.

The stats archive is valid, and for the 2004 stats, merely take the link for the 2003 stats and replace "2003" with "2004".

[bba33b21]With regard to the dismantling of Charleston[/bba33b21]: It's my impression that it was the AI that dismantled the team during the first FA period. If you look at the transactions log, there were a ton of people released (to meet salary cap?).

I could be very, very wrong, of course. :D

After staring at the roster for close to 4 hours and examining what happened in the offseason, it appears Charleston has enough firepower to make another run at this. All bets are off, we are going for 2 in a row :D

Welcome to the league!

In regards to 2004 boxscores, MC posted a link earlier in the week. Check out some of the more recent threads and it will probably be there...

I was thinking of Charleston's salary cap, wasn't the team over it by a large margin? Forgive me if I'm confusing it with some other team...

You must be thinking of another team. I tried to put the team in a good position before I left by re-signing everyone I could (that deserved it). The only guy I didn't re-sign was Ronald Tibbetts and I was hoping he'd get franchised. I believe I left at least 5 million dollars in cap space.

It'd be really nice if the AI could handle things a little better. Of course I don't expect it to carry a team like I did. :P

And I had no idea that so many disliked the nickname. Shit, I wouldn't have changed it if I could've found a better logo that would help in making a new helmet, but I couldn't. I liked the Monitors too, but was Sixpacks really that bad - rolleyes bad?

Anyways, good luck to the new owner and good luck to everyone else this season. I'll probably be rooting for Denver and of course, Charleston.

Outstanding! Thanks for the link Jeeber!

[quote7a246c4]I tried to put the team in a good position before I left [/quote7a246c4]

Like I was saying earlier....as far has I can tell, the team is in pretty good shape. The majority of members that were cut were expendable, and the few I would have kept, I probably could not have afforded. And.....the AI seems to have done a decent job of retaining a winning team. I would have prepared a bit more for the future, but I am not sure if the AI is set up to handle that. I have no complaints here. Taking over a Bowl champion is much better then a celler dweller.

I am a bit behind, and in a rush to get caught up with the rest of you so forgive me if my questions sound stupid.
I was searching the site for where to send my files, and I haven't seen any info yet. Can someone clue me in please

My mistake. Sorry for suggesting you didn't do a good job with the team, it wasn't intentional.
