Old school Ushi writeup for our showdown with PHI.

We aren't the grind it out team of past years so didn't go too over the top with bumping up on our running but we'd love to blow PHI's suspect run defense open and benched longtime stalwart Shapiro from our RB rotation for a younger option.

Of course PHI doesn't run the ball so this really simplifies things especially given we only have 1 playable boundary CB with Merrill going out in week 17 so it will be a lot of Cover-3-Cloud with Cason headed up over Andrews and a bit of Press-2. One good thing is this will put more ballhawks on the field and we've typically been able to turn Van Pelt over even if he gets good per play production.

Keep an eye on the weather's impact as the snowy conditions cold lead to some sloppy tackling, fumbles and difficulty completing downfield where both teams are tops in the intermediate pass defense while also favoring that area on offense.

We tackle Andrews on a double covered screen pass on 3rd to force the 3andO and promptly rip off 48 yards on the right side but get bogged down in the RZ with a failed complete on 3rd and long leading to a FG. PHI converts a couple but ends up in a hopeless 3rd and 19 giving it back to us after a 60 net yard punt that rests at our 5. We can't convert a 3rd and 2 and young PHI WR2 Harden gets a nice YAC chunk to get them across midfield but a successful blitz derails them however we will have to start inside our own 10 once more. We get bottled up on early down running once more (if you take off the 48 yarder we are at 6 attempts for 1 yard) and PHI takes over at midfield but PHI can't move the chains again so no harm done.

Longitme X Sigrest hauls in a downfield throw from Johnstone and then slot man Sasaki one ups him with a downfield catch and YAC chunk but we get stuffed at their 1 on 3rd down and settle for just 3 points. PHI strings together a couple intermediate passes but eats another sack running PA against a 5 man rush but Andrews converts the 3rd and long for them but they don't go any further and hit the FG to make it a 3 point game. Big KR sets us up in the orange zone and we dink and dust a bit before TE Hiller grabs a intermediate pass in stride and takes it to paydirt but we miss the XP. CVP keeps feeding Andrews but goes the well one time too often as new Sodbuster S sensation Anastadiades steps in front of the pass to set us up once more in the orange zone. We dink our way in to the RZZ but once get stoned there so take the FG and are up 12 inside of 2M.

Glad we finally got that TD because for as well as our D is playing being up 6 isn't too safe against PHI. Our O is cooking now that the run game has at least got back to plodding at least and so far we've stifled PHI's aerial attack.

3andO for us as PHI is tackling well and they move it a bit but get bogged down and pin us at our 2. Another 3andO for us and PHI starts at the 50 with a couple CVP scrambles helping them get inside our 10 and Andrews hauls in the TD pass on 3rd to have ourselves a one score ballgame once more. A 3rd 3andO for us and PHI coughs up but recovers the PR. They are moving it effeciently and RB Kennedy takes a short pass 30 yards on 3rd and short and the 3rd down RZ scramble by CVP comes up short so it's a 2 point game late in the 3rd. Terrible kickoff and big return means we take over at their 25 and its TE Hiller once more grabbing an intermediate pass in stride to hit paydirt and push the lead to 9.

CVP tries Andrews deep, short and intermedaite to no avail and we get another 40 yard chunk this time to Sasaki on a slot screen but advance no fruther so it reamins a 2 score game after the FG. Neither team can string together completions and both end up punting and CVP finds a gap to scramble through but coughs it up and FAR pounces on it and will go into grind the clock mode with 7 minutes left and a 12 point lead icing the game with a 7 run drive to a TD and the clock under 3 minutes.

Congrats on a good season landshark, that team has some serious holes but you made it work better than anyone could have expected. Trust you will keep building it and soon be back in contention.
