Reports out of the Las Vegas camp are promising. Young wide out, Corwin Poole, has been turning heads this summer. Lenny Olsen had this to say, "Wow! Just wow! I don't know how else to explain it. I though Feeney was the prototypical receiver for our system but the kid has it all and then some." Feeney had a more practical outlook for Poole, "Coach asked me to take this kid under my wing and show him the ropes. I told Coach Strong I couldn't do that because I'm already fighting to keep the kid from getting my job. The secret is to put more crap in my bags each day so by the time he gets to practice he's already tired from hauling my stuff." Feeney continued, "I make plays the old fashioned way, I have to fight and scrap for every inch and every yard. Eventually, my hard work pays off and I come up big. The rookie is different, he's electric, and he can make a big play without thinking about it. Once we can get him to work as hard as jacklegs like me, he'll take it to the house every time he touches it. Until he gains that maturity, he'll probably only make people look foolish a couple times a quarter. Hopefully, he finds that maturity before Big-J's arm falls off, he is getting old you know..."

Despite the promising news for the passing game, there were a few hurdles for the rest of the draft class. GM TurfToe had this to say, "We had some hamstring issues like we usually do. The young guys come in and try to do too much, too soon. They'll eventually learn how to manage their bodies. The old guys can do it and they're taped together. People keep overlooking our first rounder, Pete Vince. He's already the best Guard on the team. We have high hopes for him this year. Once we get word back from the trainer, we'll let you know how the other guys look going into the opener."

When asked about the infamously tough Rounder's training camp, TurfToe had this to say; "I've asked Coach Strong to take it easy on the merchandise this summer. Since we weren't able to sign any significant free agents, our draft class is all we have to improve on last year's winning season. With that said, Conditioning Coach Hugh Wierkaut is on the bubble. If he can't make this team the best 4th quarter team in the league, he'll be looking for work next year."

Lenny "Jackpot" Olsen has looked sharp in camp with Feeney doing his thing and Poole impressing from the same flanker spot. McDonald was once this team's savior as a free agent SE but 2nd year Hopkins has been pressing him since his arrival. Hopkins solid play on special teams doesn't hurt. The O-line is still spotty but 2nd year RT Twisp and rookie RG Vince could be the anchor of a solid front. 2nd year RB Jennings looks to be getting more of the 1st team reps as starting RB Greene looks to be losing a step, at least when compared to the kid. The defensive front is a year older but still looks formidable. The young tackles, Ah Yat and Weaver, appear to be learning from the cagey veterans and waiting for their turn in the limelight. The secondary is still the weak spot for the Rounders. It appears as though Coach Strong has yet to decide on what to do at the safety positions and may be looking for some help from TurfToe. The cornerbacks are all still really young and really old, with no established veterans that are young enough to fill the holes. LCB Grayvil is expected to take yet another step this year like he has done in the previous three years. RCB's Bunn and Beasley are hoping to pass the torch in the next year or two but will have to hang on until someone is ready to step up. TurfToe is expected to give his complete report in a press conference before the first preseason match up.
