Please list any rules, etc. that you would like to see considered for the consitution.

The obvious one is a coaches salary cap.

1. Coaches Salary Cap
2. Limit to # of players on a roster at one time
3. Limits to backloading contracts

- Time limits for draft picks
- Objecting to unfair trades (not that I've seen any)

The only rule I would add to those already mentioned is that you cannot switch a player's position with the explicit intent to lower their ratings.

The IHOF uses 10% of the player salary cap for the staff hiring cap, it works really well.

Mock offseason schedule - let people know that there will be an export a day for one week.

What time all exports are due - I actually don't know this? midnight pacific? (hopefully since I sent in mine for the 30th at about 11:30PM Pacific)

I think a cap on staff salary should be phased in since many may already be over any limit. Teams wouldn't be required to fire the guys they have now, but any new hires would have to be at lower price than the guy you're replacing.

Restrictions on placing players on IR - i.e. can't place players with a 3 week injury on IR so you don't have to cut a promising young player who isn't ready to start.

Tracking of who fails to send in exports - and guidelines for when an owner gets replaced.

An idea from the HFL rules - must play to win - can't deliberately tank to get a better draft pick.

Prohibiting that creates another problem, what if you get 10 people injured in the final week of preseason, and most of them was projected to be cut since all the starters was kept inactive? We can't reach injury settlements with practice squad players as in real-life NFL.

Depending on the time of year, the NFL does this quite commonly. This year, for example, WR Zamir Cobb broke his ankle while playing against the Texans in the second week of preseason. He had been having a great camp and looked as though he'd make the final roster. Now, a broken ankle isn't really a season-ending injury. The Steelers stuck him on IR anyway, in effect holding him over until next training camp so they can take another look. Unless you're talking about a different type of scenario, I really don't see a problem here?

This idea was what I heard had happened in another league. I don't recall any details though. Basically during preseason, one owner would put any non-starter that got hurt, even a one week probable, on IR so they would not have to cut players to meet roster restrictions.

Avoiding this would probably better be covered by a simple don't be an ass rule.

I think rule 1 in our league should be that...

Only problem is how do you define "ass" at this point. It would seem that we had a common sense rule that was taken to the woodshed and beaten senseless by the staff signing process.

valid point...

but i think the point is that it is kind of a "golden thumb" rule... but we still have very specific rules.. 'don't be an ass' i think is clearly not very enforceable, but more of a guiding principle (wow... my friends are right.. I have become the dickhead manager in office space)...

Placing a player who won't miss the whole season isn't that uncommon of a thing in the NFL. And when we can't cut players who are injured during the preseason I'd be against that rule.
