Denver got flagged for two roughing the kicker penalties, and we get a victory in another game we easily could have lost. We're still hanging in there in the Atlantic Division race.

Wow. San Antonio gave us a good old fashioned ass kicking. Sheen appears to be blitz-proof as we tried to blitz the crap out of him to disrupt the short passing game. It didn't help that we lost our starting pass-rushing end on the first series and our starting free safety in the first half.

We're also glad to help Roy Jones get his rushing stats back on track. I know he was injured earlier this year but he didn't seem to be having the same success he had in the past. Our gameplan might have overlooked Jones while trying to shutdown the high-percentage short pass attack. We failed miserably on both counts.

gg Shooter and remember to thank us if you are successful at making your run at Shreveport.

In other news, our o-line cohesion took a huge hit with the loss of RT Twisp last week and it appears the defensive front and secondary will follow suit next week with our latest casualties. We are averaging 1 player on IR each week following our bye after being extremely fortunate the first two-thirds of the season. What looked like the beginning of a good stretch run for us has turned into a yard sale. We'll be extremely lucky to go 2-1 down the final stretch and hope like hell we can sneak into the playoffs. It won't be easy with the recent loss of 3 key players.

edit: I just watched the game and I don't feel as bad as I did originally. While we still got our asses handed to us, there were some tough plays to overcome. Blocked punt for a TD on our second possession followed by a fumble on the ensuing kickoff leaving only 24 yards for SAO. Jones is a lot like Goodwin - give him less than half of the field and he WILL find the endzone. Later we get a 75 yard kickoff return and walk away with 3 points. Those 3 plays alone make it a tough day against any team not named Honolulu.

We overcome 3 turnovers and hold off a final drive by Memphis to come out with the win. The defense really did a great job forcing FG attempts vs TDs and fortunately, Memphis missed 3 FGs (Two 50+ yarders). The pass defense and pass rush have been improving and today CB [player]Zack Beyer[/player] made some big stops when we needed him to.

[player]Mario Atkins[/player] gets a 100 yard day for only the 2nd time all season.

The injury plague skips us for a week (thankyouthankyouthankyou) as no new injuries are reported.

We're somehow winning without our big playmaker WR Barry Reeves, but Garner is playing well and things are clicking. We're still in the WC hunt but our final 3 games are absolutely brutal with Tucson, SA and Vegas.

GG Memphis.

Syle points for CC for quoting himself. That's almost as good as an athlete talking about himself in third person. :smt029

Yes it has. I am waiting for the commissioner's office to clear the release of the Fan Day memoirs. Once that happens there should be plenty to comment on. We have only had 3 civil suits filed so far on just the rumors of what was contained in the report, so we're hoping it won't get too gutted by the lawyers before it is released.

To be honest I expected this to be a really tough game. I thought you had a front seven that could stand up to our O-Line today and would shut down the run a bit more. [player]Roy Jones[/player] was a beast on the 1st half and did enough in the 2nd half when the defense was dialed in on the run more. I lost count of how may 10+ yard gains he had on the ground. Sheen was efficient in finding the holes and avoiding the blitz. When I watched the game I found myself saying, where's the kitchen sink? Every play seemed like you had 2 guys on the blitz.

What I really liked about this game is you knew what was coming and couldn't stop it.

GG, Fonzie.

Unfortunately one of my stud corners was out for this matchup. I sure could have used Rittenbaum to defend a few passes. The two stat lines that matter are Bradford - 2 picks; Goodwin - none. Also, starting field position. Tucson started at their 30, while we started at our 18.

I'm pissed at the game engine, though. End of the first half, we stop Tucson's drive forcing a fumble and have 1:50 to get back down to the other end of the field and at least put 3 points on the board. We didn't call one freaking timeout, even though we had all three. WTF? We even made good progress. I think the drive stopped at halftime at Tucson's 48. Damn game engine.

Well, now we've got a hella matchup against San Antonio for what is effectively the division championship. At one point we were up 4 games on them. Sigh.

Albany crushed us. GG thater. Hopefully we just had a bad day, and this isn't what our offense will look like without [player]Damon Bates[/player].

Damn.

Two costly interceptions by Pierce cost us the game.

Anchorage scores on the first offensive play of the game. We held the Wolfpack pretty much in check the rest of the way, but unfortunately our own offense couldn'get much going either.

Yes, I knew a blocked punt for a TD and 3 turnovers defeicit were coming and I couldn't stop it. When I do figure out how to stop those things I'll be sure to share.

GG Taco,

I have to say that defense brings the heat. We had no time in the passing game to complete anything. The frustration showed in the special teams errors. I started my young QB, and he had to earn everything he got today. So, we got thrown to the Dawgs. Denver L 20-17.

gg to you too, RH. That was quite a tight game. Your D really clamped down after those two early scores, and I was sweating bullets for much of the second half. As you mentioned, those INTs wound up being the difference in this otherwise even matchup.
